A Day That Told Our Story

March 9, 2016 by JulieAnn

"Tell me about your family..." I hung on those words for several days after I met her, agonizing over what I didn't say, what I couldn't say in the few seconds I felt I could take of her time. She was kindness, empowerment, and love in human form. ...

Sleep Schedules, Stress Bombs, and Surrendering: The First Month

February 1, 2016 by JulieAnn

Five weeks ago this minute, I watched the delivery room fill up with people. A flurry of nurses and specialists called down from NICU to make sure my precious girl could breath properly on her own.  Normally, this would have caused heart racing ...

December 24, 2015 by JulieAnn

With the world becoming more and more paperless every year, there is something about receiving a real, live Christmas card in the mail that helps me retain those important elements of nostalgia and warm feelings that accompany thoughts and memories ...

A nursery for Clara

November 23, 2015 by JulieAnn

Hands shaking, heart racing uncomfortably. Seth's parents were at home with our four boys so we could enjoy an "evening out." Walking with bated trepidity into Fetal Studios I still felt some degree of hope that just perhaps I might finally hear ...

How a house becomes a home: { Part 2 }

November 5, 2015 by JulieAnn

The other day I was feeling a little gloomy.  Okay, a lot.  Disheartened, disillusioned, depressed. I wondered if my contribution to life, to the world around me, held any significance at all. We had just finished all of our Halloween ...

TGIF { Thank Goodness It’s Fall! }

September 22, 2015 by JulieAnn

Saturday night didn't end well for my guys.  24-23 for a last minute BYU loss?  It was like our evening as a family began at an amusement park and ended up in a morgue.  There were moans, groans, screams and yes, even tears.  And then the house was ...

How a house becomes a HOME

September 21, 2015 by JulieAnn

I've decided that moving with a family of seven is pretty much like giving birth.  Similar to the anticipation of a new baby in the home, we all greatly await the moving day, as if it is going to be akin to an elaborate vacation.  Weeks before the ...

Our Little Hedgehog

June 11, 2015 by JulieAnn

We almost lost him.  Twice. 1. Seth and I had been married for only a few month when we discovered we were pregnant with our first child together.  We were elated and a bit terrified at the same time.  Was our family ready to add a new one to the ...

My Amazing Ashton

May 24, 2015 by JulieAnn

The other day I had the opportunity to direct our elementary school's talent show.  I'm not very good at being in charge of things, so this was kind of a source of  stress for me--the ominous dreams at night, can't concentrate on anything else, heart ...

The not-so-awkward number Fourteen

May 8, 2015 by JulieAnn

I saw a meme once that said something like, "When you're having a bad day, just remember...you're not fourteen anymore."  I was reminded the other day of the comical accuracy of that statement when I thought it would be fun to pull out my old ...

A Little About This Blog . . .

Faith, family life, and music constitute my happiness trifecta. I love being mom to five of the coolest boys I know, one sweet little girl, and wife to my best friend. This blog is a place for me to document the important moments of our life together as a "blended" family. I love our unique family life, I love being a mom, and I enjoy being able to share our experiences and projects with others who might somehow find a tiny bit of inspiration from our crazy little world.
